about....

I have been climbing and mountaineering in the UK and around the world for the last 25 years and have worked full time in the mountains since 1987.  I live in Chamonix in the French Alps and am therefore ideally situated for all your Alpine and worldwide guiding requirements.

Image of Simon Abrahams As an International Mountain Guide, I hold the prestigious IFMGA carnet, which is the highest internationally recognised qualification for instruction and guiding in the disciplines of rock and ice climbing, mountaineering and skiing.  I also hold the Mountain Instructors Certificate (MIC), which is the UK’s highest qualification for Mountain Professionals.  I am also a member of the British Association of Mountain Guides (BMG).

I have worked and climbed extensively all over the UK, the European Alps and in the greater ranges of North America, South America and the polar regions, particularly Iceland, Greenland and Antarctica.  I’ve had some great adventures, made good friends and achieved many fantastic ascents along the way, sometimes first ascents and always in an alpine style.

Another part of my role as a Mountain Guide has seen me working and advising on many film projects around the world, including, Batman - 'Batman Begins', James Bond - 'Die Another Day', IMAX - 'Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure' and BBC/KEO Productions - 'Blizzard, Race to the Pole'.

In Winter, my focus turns to skiing and snowboarding. I have pursued both for the last 18 years and have taken my boards with me wherever I have gone, whether it has been making first snowboard descents in Antarctica, working on Ski Patrol in Canada or skiing in my own backyard, here in Chamonix.

I have a passion for the mountainous areas of the world and also for sharing them with others. My years of dedication, knowledge and experience can help make your dreams a reality.

All our Guides will not only be Fully Qualified or Aspirant IFMGA Guides, but also share that passion for the mountains.  This, I believe will make your experience with us a professional and enjoyable one. I hope to see you soon.
